The Ecological Preservation, Restoration, and Education Program
April 4, 2005
In Fall 2004 Eco-PREP worked with students at the Pacific Coast High School in Arcata. We facilitated field trips to the HSU Telonicher Marine Laboratory and the Simpson Timber Company nursery in Korbel. We also brought guest speakers such as Julie Clark of the BLM into the classroom to talk with students about career options. Eco-PREP took students to the South Jetty of Humboldt Bay to observe restoration efforts on behalf of the snowy plover.
Eco-PREP works as an effective partnership among numerous government agencies, non-profits, local schools, and small businesses. We have been funded by the California Coastal Commission, the Humboldt Area Foundation, the Northern California Environmental Grassroots Fund, the Cooperative Community Foundation, and the HSU Federal Work-Study program. We are still looking for more financial support for spring semester 2005 and beyond; unfortunately, we are not actually teaching this semester for lack of grant funding.
If you are interested in becoming a member of our board, hosting a field trip, volunteering in the classroom as a guest speaker, or connecting us to another funding source, please contact us at:
