One of the most critical challenges confronting grassroots organizations is the need to raise operating and project funds. State and federal budget deficits coupled with steep declines in the principal of institutional foundations caused by tumbling stock markets has meant that fundraising for many community-based groups has become much more challenging. Trees assists collaborating organizations in achieving financial stability by providing free technical and professional services and facilitating private donor contributions through the Donor Advised Program.
Since 1999 Trees Foundation has managed the Donor Advised Program on behalf of donors and our community-based environmental partners. The Donor Advised Program allows individuals, families, and local businesses to pursue their conservation priorities easily and with a minimum of paperwork. Donors can name their new fund and realize the tax benefits of donating now, and make grants to environmental causes now or in the future.
Donors determine their level of tax-deductible charitable giving, and together with Trees Foundation establish award requirements, and determine which nonprofit projects meet their objectives. Trees simplifies charitable giving by researching areas of interest, coordinating the application process, administering fund dispersal, providing record keeping, and monitoring grant requirements for no charge.
