Salmonid Restoration Federation - SRF Reports from the 22nd Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference

Salmonid Restoration Federation hosted our 22nd Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference, March 17-20, in Davis in coordination with the 14th International Salmonid Enhancement Workshop. The focus of this year's conference was "Collaborative Watershed Efforts for Salmonid Recovery."

Nearly 400 people attended full-day workshops on fish-friendly agricultural practices, effectiveness and validation monitoring of restoration projects, urban creek restoration, advanced GIS analysis for watershed management, increasing your watershed and fish restoration organization's capacity, and instream flow requirements for salmonids.

Field tours included tours of salmonid and associated ecosystem restoration sites along Putah Creek, Cache Creek, the Yolo bypass, the city of Davis, and the Mokelumne and American Rivers.
The plenary session highlighted Global, Pacific Northwest, California and regional salmonid issues. Presentations by Robert Lackey (EPA), Dune Lankard (Copper River, Alaska), Diana Jacobs, (CDFG), and Mark DuBois (Cofounder of Friends of the River) addressed the recovery of salmon at different landscape scales. Nine concurrent sessions included presentations on policy topics of importance, as well as the biological and physical issues facing salmon and watershed restorationists.

SRF is a non-profit organization that provides educational resources to California's salmon restoration community by producing an annual conference, field schools and workshops. SRF can offer the conference at an affordable rate because of the generosity of our co-sponsors and local donors. SRF would like to thank the following local agencies, organizations, and businesses that donated to the conference or offered in-kind services.

A sincere thank you goes to the California Salmon Partnership, California Conservation Corps, California Department of Fish and Game, California Watershed Network, City of Davis, Friends of the Eel River, Trees Foundation, and the Watershed Stewards Project alumni. Additional support was provided by Bien Padre, Fish Brothers, Humboldt's Finery, Jordan's Produce, Moonrise Herbs, Sacred Grounds, Signature Coffee, and Thomas Dunklin's Photography.

Next year's conference will be in Humboldt County. In the spirit of collaboration!
