Full-day workshops will be offered on numerous topics: fish-friendly agricultural practices, effectiveness and validation monitoring of restoration projects, urban creek restoration and water conservation efforts, advanced GIS analysis for watershed management, increasing your organization's capacity through grant-writing, technical Assistance, and permitting, and instream flow requirements for salmonids.
Field tours include looks at Putah Creek restoration efforts, Cache Creek, the Yolo bypass and wetlands designed for flood control and urban runoff with fish in mind, suburban watershed planning at Village Homes in Davis, Cosumnes and Mokelumne River restoration programs, and Sacramento urban streams and American River restoration efforts.
On Thursday evening, the theatre troupe Human Nature will perform their new musical comedy, "What's so Funny about Global Climate Change?" The brainchild of Mattole restorationist David Simpson this revue was inspired by David's concerns about the effects of global climate change on salmonids.
Robert Lackey from the EPA will address global fisheries issues and the future of salmon in the Pacific Northwest at the plenary session.
Technical and policy concurrent sessions will cover conservation hatchery practices and research, opportunities for restoration through the FERC relicensing process, nutrient enhancement, in-channel and upslope salmonid habitat enhancement projects, case studies of the Putah and Cache Creek collaborative restoration rograms,, global salmon restoration and recovery efforts, diversion replacements and fish bypass structures, non-native and invasive species, and development of a standards-based salmonid education program.
