One of ISF's key roles is bringing education and training programs to the community. As before, ISF is organizing a series of workshops on issues of interest to landowners, watershed dwellers (that's all of us), and others interested in good land stewardship. The first of these is "Roads, Sediment, and Salmon." To be held in Laytonville (at the Fire House) on April 28, the workshop will feature Dr. Bill Weaver of Pacific Watershed Associates. We will focus on maintaining dirt roads to minimize sediment delivery into our streams and rivers. An afternoon field trip will visit well-situated, constructed, and maintained roads on Cahto Peak.
ISF also will present a series of "walks in the woods," showing
examples of people doing good forestry practices throughout the North Coast. The schedule will be announced soon. If interested in either workshop, please call ISF at (707) 247-1101.
