The twentieth anniversary Salmonid Restoration Conference was held at the Ukiah Valley Conference Center, February 28 through March 3, 2002. Jim Lichatowitch, author of A History of the Pacific Salmon Crisis-Salmon Without Rivers, was the keynote speaker. The agenda included field tours, workshops and a poster session. Topics included restoration techniques for beginners, oceans and estuaries, salmon friendly forestry, riparian corridors, salmonid education, gravel mining, hatchery practices, restoring the Russian River, the Potter Valley Project and a discussion of the amounts of river water needed to support fish. On Saturday night there was a banquet with watershed-relevant skits and dance music on Saturday night. Next year, the conference will be held in San Luis Obispo.
