Like the original Marshall Plan which rebuilt Europe after World War II, CEED?s Green Marshall Plan is a comprehensive policy demanding adequate resources to finance the transitions so urgently needed: ? to sustainable, safe, and just communities.
Transition steps include: shifting to appropriate technologies (like solar or sustainable forestry); adequate financing; industrial retrofitting; changes in consumer and corporate behavior; just transitions to human rights; and policies to make these happen.
Locally, our new Sustainable Humboldt project brings together a large network of progressive practitioners actively engaged in projects in sustainable agriculture, sustainable forestry, sustainable energy, and sustainable societies.
Our new Climate Challenge projects promote the transition to safe, clean, renewable technologies, through shifts in policy and consumer behavior. And we work with the Alliance for Sustainable Jobs and the Environment to prepare workshops on Worker-Friendly approaches to combating climate change. Combined labor and environment workshops were held this winter in San Francisco, CA, Butte, MT, and Portland, OR.
From local, all the way to the international level, citizens and governments need to design ?Just Transitions,? to economies that respect human rights and workers? rights while meeting urgent ecological needs. CEED is proud to be part of that effort.
