Siskiyou Land Conservancy

Our projects are many. Siskiyou Land Conservancy currently owns two parcels. Our Eel River property protects 160 acres and nearly one mile of critical spawning habitat for Endangered Coho salmon. The other parcel, 80 acres on the Smith River, protects rare plant habitat. We also hold two conservation easements. One of the easements protects 148 acres on the South Fork Smith River, the other protects 163 acres in western Mendocino County. We are currently in the process of developing restoration plans for two of these properties. (See projects for more information.)

Siskiyou Land Conservancy is also dedicated to protecting fish habitat throughout Northern California, particularly on the Klamath and Smith Rivers. In addition, our Sustainable Communities Program assists North Coast residents who want information and resources for living lighter on the planet.

The Smith River Project, a Trees Foundation Partner, was dedicated in large part to protecting habitat on private lands ("inholdings") surrounded by the Smith River National Recreation Area. When the organization secured the acquisition funding, as well as a significantly reduced purchase price, plant lovers were ecstatic, as the property was famous throughout the world for its pristine expanse of rare (read more)
